ABOUT THE SPANISH IMMERSION: Our SpainBcn Spanish Immersion Teen Summer Programs are designed to provide teenager students with an immersion in the Spanish way of life. The students live with our nice and carefully selected Spanish host families located in the best/centric area of the city. Host families are located nearby the school, usually walking distance,
The program includes scheduled Spanish lessons at SpainBcn School Monday thruogh Friday (in the morning or in the afternoon according to the participants group age. When participants are not at the camp or at the school they are attending a complete cultural program with a variety of interesting guided visits, sightseeing tours, historical routes, best museums, and excursions.

ABOUT SUPERVISION: This is a supervised summer program for teenagers.
We (SpainBcn teachers and coordinators) personally pick up our students at Barcelona airport on arrival and departures dates for those participants travelling alone to Barcelona.
Participants have a program's curfew (at 11:30 pm) that has to be respected. Our host families have young children so our host families want our students to be at home for dinner time and not to go out after without supervision.
The SpainBcn teachers and coordinators accompany the students group during all the actitivities included in the program.
Students are picked up at their accommodations the first 2-3 days by the teachers and coordinators that will accompany them to the school or to the camp (depending on their program schedule). SpainBcn teachers and coordinators will pick them up in the morning to accompany them until they feel confortable going to the school by themselves.
Teachers and coordinators will also accompany them to the host families at 7:30 pm. after the afternoon activities. All teen students return to their host families accommodations to have dinner with the family. Parents who want to give permisson to their children to go out for dinner have to inform (sending an e-mail) to the school and to the host family.

For the Teen Summer Programs the curfew for those students under 19 is at 11:30 pm.
Those parents or tutors who want to give permission to their children to go ut at night (without teachers, coordinators or the host families) must send us a formal authorization.
Note: Some of the host families may prefer to have a student that do not go out during the night as the children of the family may not have permission to go out at night yet.

OUR LOCATION IN BARCELONA: Our school is located in the very center of Barcelona in one of the nicest and more elegant areas of the city: between the main streets of Passeig de Gracia and Rambla de Cataluna, less than 5 minutes walking to Plaza Cataluña and Las Ramblas, the most tourist part of Barcelona. We are in the heart of the Modernist Route and some of the more important Antonio Gaudi's building are just around the corner.

ABOUT THE CULTURAL PROGRAM: The cultural program includes a variety of Historical routes and guided visits to the best museums and to the most interesting places in Barcelona including guided historical walks with a History Professor through the old city to visit the Romans Ruins, the Gothic Quarter and the Medieval area; guided tours to some of the most interesting Modernist buildings of Antonio Gaudi, etc.
Friday afternoon: beach (or free afternoon for those older than 16 who already know the city -optional-).
Every Saturday of the student's program there is scheduled 1 day excursion out of the city to visit others interesting places of cultural or historical interests and beautiful beaches to enjoy more of the Mediterranean coast.

UPON ARRIVAL AT THE BARCELONA AIRPORT... There is only one exit door from the international flights arrival concourse and the door leads directly to the reception area. In the reception area there will be a SpainBCN representative with a big sign with the SpainBcn-Programs' logo and the student's name. We are in constant communication with airline flight arrival information. In case the flight arrives earlier or later than the scheduled arrival time we will be there when the plane arrives at Barcelona. In the rare case when a student may miss a connection enroute to Barcelona SpainBcn-Programs will make sure someone is at the airport when the student arrives. In any case, the student is to stay near the entrance of the reception area until the SpainBCN representative arrives.
The SpainBcn-Programs representative that meets the student at the airport will drive the student to the host family accommodation and introduce the student to the family.
That first day the students also receive maps and directions and other information they need: phone numbers and addresses of the school, of the host family and of other students/friends also in Barcelona.
The first day of program the host family accompanies the student to the school or to the meeting point or a coordinator of the school will go to pick the student up. Our our host families live in the same area of the school between 5 to 20 minutes walking distance from the school. This is also the central area of the city, with wide sidewalks and lots of shops.

PHONE CALLS: Participants are normally not permitted to make long-distance phone calls directly from their host family's phone. They have to use a phone card to make those calls. However students' parents may call the participants at the accommodation at specific times. It is also customary to keep calls brief.
Student can use any public or private phones with the pre-paid cards (which are very cheap and available in many stores in the city).
Students can also receive calls at SpainBcn school and make internationl phone calls from the school's phone using the pre-paid cards.

POCKET/SPENDING MONEY: You will need to bring a minimum of 90 euros per week for lunch and minor expenses (approximately 10 or 12 euros per day).

WHEN A STUDENT'S OWN FAMILY IS IN BARCELONA: For those students who are in Barcelona with their own family and want to attend our any of our programs, the cost of the host family accommodation and pick ups on arrival and departure dates are deducted from the total cost of the program. In these cases the SpainBcn-Program will match the familys plans as much as possible, for exemple not including the 1 day excursion on Saturday or not including the cultural activities in the afternoon. Inform us about your needs.
